Major research areas in the Department of 微生物学 and 免疫学 are in diseases caused by viruses and parasites, the host response to infection, and the development and function of the immune system.

A range of viruses are studied, including dengue virus, Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), Kaposis sarcoma-associated herpesvirus (KSHV), 巨细胞病毒, herpes simplex virus and varicella zoster virus. The focus of virology research is on pathogenesis, 基因调控, molecular interactions between the virus and host cell, 抗病毒药物, and viral replication, 还有癌症, 引起EBV和KSHV. 研究 on malaria and toxoplasma is also being conducted.

Each student will assist in the Medical 微生物学 laboratory (second, 第三, 可能是第四名, not final thesis year).
